WHAT AM I READING?

 8/7/08

-I have read lots this summer, too many to list, and am looking forward to a great new school year!

-Have you ever read any of the old Nancy Drew mysteries?  They have been around for a long time, but they are quick, pretty easy reads that always have a fun mystery for Nancy and her pals to solve.  And the good news is, if you like them, there are A LOT of books in the series, so you could be busy a long time.  I think I read almost all of them the summer before I went to 7th grade.  :)

-We just started reading Escape from Memory by Margaret Peterson Haddix as a read aloud in my Literature skills class and it seems to be keeping students' attention very well!

-finished reading Crossing the Wire and am still reading WANTED! by Carolyn Cooney.

-reading Shoeless Joe with my 8th grade English classes.

 4/14/08

-currently reading Crossing the Wire by Will Hobbs as a read-aloud to my reading class, another ITA book.  A good read so far!

-another good read by Will Hobbs is Far North, a survival story kind of similar to some of Gary Paulsen's books.

-just finished Code Orange by Carolyn Cooney.  A good book with a gripping plot involving infectious diseases, national terrorism and even romance.

-also reading WANTED! by Caroline Cooney since it was recommended by some of my students.

4/4/08 -finally finished reading The Lion's Game and just read Stumptown Kid (in a day thanks to the JH read-in!) by Carol Gorman and Ron Findley.  This is one of the ITA books for this year and is even set near Cedar Rapids.  I definitely recommend it--a great read with a great message.
2/21/08 -just finished reading After the First Death by Rober Cormier to my reading class

-am currently reading The Lion's Game by Nelson DeMille.

-I recommend Where the Red Fern Grows as one of my all-time favorites.

1/18/08

-just finished reading Motor Mouth by Janet Evanovich.

-am currently reading the Dirk Pitt series by Clive Cussler.

- I recommend Summer of the Monkeys if you haven't already read it.
